THE ruins of Coventry Cathedral are still a powerful monument to the cruelties of war.
Hearing the Last Post played at the Menin Gate brings tears to my eyes. Remembering past conflicts can swell the emotions.
I am sorry if my questioning of Britain's military past has upset some readers (Letters. 9 December).
I simply pose the question: why? I ask why has Britain been involved in so many foreign wars? I ask why did British troops attack Nepal in 1814? Why did we invade peaceful Tibet in 1906? Why did Britain bomb Libya in 2011 and why has a British serviceman died in Ukraine?
