INDIA secured their first-ever ICC Women's World Cup title by breaking the hearts of the Proteas Women with a 52-run victory in a thrilling final held at the iconic DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
The victory marked a monumental achievement for the home side, setting off jubilant celebrations not only within the stadium but across the entire subcontinent.
The atmosphere at the DY Patil Stadium was electric as fans filled the stands in a sea of blue, waving flags and chanting in support of their team. As the final wickets fell, the roar of approval that erupted from the crowd was a testament to the unyielding support for the home team.
The Proteas delivered a valiant performance, led by captain Laura Wolvaardt’s brilliant 101, but it was not enough to help them chase down a record 299-run target.
