FORMER Derby County manager, Billy Davies, has been appointed as the interim manager of Greenock Morton.

The move comes after the departure of first team boss Dougie Imrie to Raith Rovers, who sit one point and one place above them in the Scottish Championship table.

Davies joined Morton in July when he was handed the responsibility of technical head coach, but he is now poised to oversee his first match since 2014 when he was in charge of Nottingham Forest.

“The chairman asked me to step in on an interim basis, which I'm obviously delighted to do,” said Davies, who will oversee the game against Peterhead this afternoon.
