TRANSPORT bosses have been told not to set off a “ticking time bomb” when they purchase bus depots in the West Midlands.

Members of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) board agreed to buy depots across the region as part of a plan to bring the network under public control through franchising.

But some members raised concerns about the condition of the depots and said structural surveys should be carried out. Bosses assured the board that each site will undergo due diligence.

Cllr Adrian Andrew, from Walsall, said: “What I don’t want us to do is to set ourselves a ticking time bomb for the future.”
