Vitor still in good spirits despite ‘harsh’ outcome
Birmingham Mail
|August 18, 2025
MANAGER Vitor Pereira felt a 4-0 scoreline was harsh after watching his Wolves side thrashed by Manchester City in their Premier League opener at Molineux.

Erling Haaland struck twice either side of a fine effort from new signing Tijjani Reijnders, while fellow new arrival Rayan Cherki came on as a substitute to add a late fourth.
Reijnders also had a hand in both of Haaland’s goals in what was a particularly impressive introduction to life in the English top flight.
“We had three or four chances to score goals but the difference is technically they are strong, individually they are strong, tactically they are strong, and each mistake we committed, they punished us,’ said Pereira.
“If you hadn't watched the game it’s like they created a lot of chances and deserved ten goals and we didn’t deserve anything, but it was not the case.
“We showed a good spirit and ambition to score, ambition to not just defend but to press them, to force them, to push them. In the end, the result is the result for us, but for us keep good things, improve the bad things.
“The spirit that I want is this spirit. We tried to be on the pitch with ambition, trying to score. We created some good chance to score. We did some good movements.
