‘FUMING’ Brummies have taken the flag row to the streets by painting the St George's Cross on mini-roundabouts in parts of the city.

Residents have hit out after Birmingham City Council announced that English flags hoisted from lampposts will be removed.

Residents put up the Union Jack and St George's flags as part of an online movement called ‘Operation Raise the Colours! Council chiefs sparked fury when they ordered the flags to be ripped down, saying the “unauthorised items” are “dangerous” and could potentially kill motorists and pedestrians. Residents have accused the coun-

cil of double standards after other banners, including Palestine flags, were to remain in the city.
