'I was trying to jump but then a man sat on me'

BRIDGE HERO IS THANKED FOR 'SAVING MY LIFE'

A MAN who almost jumped from a Birmingham bridge as he suffered a mental health crisis has thanked the hero driver who helped save him.

Craig Wild contacted the Birmingham Mail after reading Jex Parkin’s account of how he stopped to help a stranger he spotted above the Aston Expressway on the night of Friday, June 20.

Craig had never had the chance to thank Jex after the motorist wrestled him down from the railings and called police.

Craig, 34, said: “Without him, I wouldn't be alive.”

He also spoke about his mental health struggles and said he was receiving the help he needed following Jex's intervention.

Jex previously told us how he had been driving to meet friends when he spotted Craig on the bridge with his head in his hands.

While many others had passed by, the 24-year-old stopped to check on his welfare.
