Demo targeted homeless in asylum seeker hotel mix-up
Birmingham Mail
|September 26, 2025
A HOTEL full of homeless families and children waiting for somewhere permanent to live was wrongly targeted by angry protesters who dubbed them all “asylum seekers”.

The Superior in Dudley
At one point around 200 agitated demonstrators marched on the hotel in Dudley chanting for its closure as misinformation spread.
Even after the Home Office confirmed not a single asylum seeker was being housed there, a second protest was held.
Birmingham City Council is using the incident to launch a new Truth Matters project aiming at dispelling myths and responding to false claims.
The Dudley hotel, called The Superior, is used by the city council for homeless families who are waiting on a council or private rental property.
All of those sent to stay there from the city council are owed a duty of care under homeless legislation.
They include people from a wide range of backgrounds, including white British and migrant families.
