Shaky defence a concern for Hudson
Thailand midfielder Sarach Yooyen celebrates after scoring against Singapore at Thammasat Stadium.
Anthony Hudson began his reign as Thailand head coach with a 3-2 victory but the nature of Thursday night's match showed the Englishman still has a lot of work to do to help the War Elephants qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup finals.
The friendly win against Southeast Asian rivals Singapore at Thammasat Stadium in Pathum Thani came courtesy of goals from veteran duo Sarach Yooyen, Theerathon Bunmathan and substitute Seksan Ratree while Glenn Kweh scored both goals for the visitors.
The victory also came at a cost after Buriram United striker Supachai Chaided suffered a knee injury when he landed awkwardly after jumping for a header in the 13th minute.
While recalled stars made a huge contribution in the victory, the defence looked slow and vulnerable and Hudson knew he faces a huge task ahead of a crucial Asian Cup qualifier against Sri Lanka next Tuesday.
