A prominent Derby pub has unveiled a new look as it begins a new chapter after a huge investment from a pub chain and an experienced landlord.

The Travellers Rest, which for years was one of the first stops on the Derby Mile pub crawl from Ashbourne Road to the city centre, reopened on Monday, December 8 after £320,000 investment was secured from licensee Andy Newton, alongside Admiral Taverns.

The pub closed its doors on October 26 and has since been the subject of a huge refurbishment aiming to “enhance and modernise the overall look and feel of the pub.”

Mr Newton, who has been at the helm of the pub for the last two years, says he has worked hard to ensure the pub retains its original character and traditional features.
