December free parking designed to boost trade

Ashbourne's Clifton Road car park is just where people can park for free after 2pm

THERE will be free parking every afternoon in car parks ran by the Derbyshire Dales District Council during December.

In a scheme designed to boost trade, for the 18th year in a row it will be free to park in any district council pay-and display-car park after 2pm throughout the festive season.

The free parking initiative was introduced in 2008 to help local residents and businesses during the economic recession.

The resident parking permit issued to all Dales households also makes parking free every day of the year before 11am and after 3pm.
