Farrell can play the Jonny role, says May

OWEN Farrell can be the “Jonny Wilkinson figure” England will need to capture a second Webb Ellis Cup in France.
Former Test centre Tom May believes head coach Steve Borthwick was right to revert to the Saracens man for the final Six Nations clash in Dublin despite another defeat.
And, while many supporters still yearn for the skills and flair of Marcus Smith at No.10, May says there is only one man who should be wearing the jersey.
May, who played for Newcastle, Northampton, Toulon and London Welsh, said: “If you want another Jonny Wilkinson-like figure to kick that crucial three points there would be no-one better than Farrell to step up with a cool, calm head and become the hero.
“In my view, those people who said Farrell should have gone ages ago from the England set-up – and, indeed, even some of my mates certainly did – are mistaken.
“Farrell has a huge amount to contribute to the side especially in a World Cup year when you need people who can show a calm head under pressure. There’s no doubt Farrell can demonstrate exactly that when the heat is on, at big moments in games.
