Turning everything into gold

The movie A Single Man, released in 2009, may have been fashion designer Tom Ford's directorial debut but it can still be felt as a far-reaching aesthetic influence today. It's in the mid-century palettes and materials used by leading designers like James Thurstan Waterworth and Linda Boronkay, while its cocktails-all-day vibe can be seen in the furniture currently produced by global brands like Minotti and Porada. And its hazy, filtered sunlight seems to be ever-present in the projects of Jordan Larmour, a British interior designer just starting to make waves.

'That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said about my work,' Jordan says. 'I think it's because I don't do cool colours or cool anything. The UK weather can be bleak at times and I want all my projects to feel a glow, to have that same warmth whether it's first thing in the morning or last thing at night.' Jordan is part of a new generation of designers that is creating fascinating work thanks in part to their portfolio careers. He founded Larmour Studio in 2015 to work on residential and commercial spaces, but is also the head of design at furniture brand Icons of Denmark, where a big focus is on high-end and well-designed office pieces.
