'The clients had two sculptures serendipitously titled In Conversation - by Texan artist Jeffie Brewer,' says Homan Rajai, co-founder of San Francisco's Studio Ahead, of this dining room. 'We thought, why don't we use these for the legs of the table and make the woodwork around them in the style of Brancusi's totems and edge details? BALANCING ACT

In the dining zone of an open-plan converted barn designed by Gräfling, a mix of textures and materials – including an oval lacquered table and an original chandelier from the Palace of the Republic in Berlin creates a richly layered feel.
