Nuts have nutrients that can curb stress. For example, 2 tablespoons of almonds contains almost 20 percent of an adult's daily magnesium needs. Getting enough magnesium may help ease anxiety and depression: The mineral regulates the neurotransmitters that tell our brains to be anxious or stressed.
More research is needed, but it's theorized these messengers get stuck in the "on" position and getting enough magnesium can help turn them off.
