Harrison Ford - 'IT'S BEEN A REMARKABLE EXPERIENCE'

He’s one of Hollywood's most prolific actors, with a résumé spanning almost six decades and close to 90 roles. Yet surprisingly, Harrison Ford hasn't received the amount of major accolades you might expect.

Best known for his work on the silver screen during his illustrious career, he cemented his place in cinematic history with iconic roles such as Han Solo in the original Star Wars saga, Indiana Jones in the action-adventure series of the same name, Dr Richard Kimble in The Fugitive, President James Marshall in Air Force One and Deckard in Blade Runner. In 1986, he was nominated for an Oscar and a BAFTA for Witness.

But it wasn’t until this month that he received his first ever Emmy nomination - at the ripe old age of 83, no less - for his standout performance as curmudgeonly veteran therapist Dr Paul Rhoades in Apple TV+ series Shrinking.

imageSome might say Ford is playing to type as Paul, the surly, suffer-no-fools seasoned shrink to Jason Segel’s eager-to-impress, puppy dog-esque Jimmy Laird - the recently widowed father-of-one who's battling his own demons while attempting to help his patients with theirs. And that appraisal isn’t far off the mark, with Ford known to be a bit of a grouch. But it’s Paul’s crankiness - the yin to Jimmy’s yang - that is key to the show’s success.
