SPREADING JOY DURING HER BUSY WEEK THE QUEEN AWESOME CAMILLA BRINGS CARROTS AND SMILES

The Queen gave two very special guests the royal treatment at Buckingham Palace last week as she fed carrots to a donkey and a Shetland pony from a silver tray.

Her Majesty welcomed the animals to the palace ahead of a reception for an animal welfare charity during a busy week of solo engagements that also saw her open a school library and pay tribute to nurses who look after seriously ill children.

“Are you greedy, Alfie?” asked Camilla, as she fed the donkey, before stroking LaLa the pony and joking that the animals were “about my size”.

Among those joining the Queen to mark the 90th anniversary of Brooke, which aims to improve the lives of horses, donkeys and mules, were broadcasters Angela Rippon and Alastair Stewart, TV vet Dr Scott Miller and impressionist Rory Bremner.
