Toned and tanned in a rolled-down wetsuit, keen surfer Chris Hemsworth looked carefree and relaxed carrying a surfboard under his arm while strolling along the beach in Byron Bay.

"There is nothing better than waking up and jumping straight into salty water, going for a surf with the family, grabbing a fantastic coffee at your favourite café," the Thor star has said.

This spectacular coastal location in northern New South Wales is home to the Australian-born star and his wife of 14 years, Spanishborn actress Elsa Pataky, with their children, 11-year-old twin sons Sasha and Tristan and 12-year-old daughter India.

In 2014, the family made the decision to move from Los Angeles for a more chilled-out life closer to his parents Craig and Leonie. "You're a little bit too much in the eye of the storm when you're living in Hollywood," he explained.

"I was lucky enough to grow up surrounded by water in Australia from Phillip Island to the Northern Territory, and now I'm living back in Byron with my family, right on the beach. It's no secret I love surfing. Quality time at the beach is the best and I want my kids to grow up around the same stunning landscapes I have."
