So when ten-week-old Raphael Pickering let out a loud burp as the royal chatted to a group of new mums, Kate was unfazed.

"Well done, you," she told the tot, adding to his mum Brogan Goodwin: "It's always really reassuring when you spend ages trying to get them to burp."

Brogan, 24, said later: "I thought he was going to be sick. I thought: 'Please don't vomit on the Princess!' But luckily it was only a burp. I'm going to wait till his 18th birthday to tell him."

Kate, 41, was at Riversley Park Children's Centre in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, to meet mothers and health visitors benefiting from a £50,000 grant from her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.
