The Princess Royal and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh travel the world strengthening diplomatic relations

As a key member of the Firm - and famously its most hardworking - the Princess Royal accrued thousands of air miles in 2025.

Anne, 75, took on the presidency of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in 2023, so she was responsible for honouring far-flung allies as the world marked the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Given her dedication and resilience, there could have been no better choice.

"I don’t think there’s a retirement programme on this particular life," she remarked in January, during a two-day trip to South Africa's Cape Town.

As well as unveiling the city's Labour Corps Memorial she learnt about the legacy of Archbishop Desmond Tutu at his eponymous foundation, saw the largest optical telescope in the southern hemisphere and met the team behind an initiative to help victims of sexual assault. The devoted equestrian also made sure to drop in on the South African Riding for the Disabled Association.
