ENJOYING A FAMILY DAY OUT THE KING IS ON WINNING FORM AT WINDSOR HORSE SHOW

His mother Elizabeth II was a devoted fan of the Royal Windsor Horse Show and never missed a year, so she would have been delighted to see the King sharing that passion – alongside her eldest granddaughter Zara Tindall – at this year’s event.

His Majesty’s face lit up in a broad smile as he greeted his niece upon his arrival at Windsor Castle on the show’s third day.

And his joy was matched by Zara, 42, who was equally delighted to see her uncle, the pair wrapping their arms around each other in a tight embrace.

The happy outing came days after the 75-year-old monarch returned to public-facing duties amid his ongoing treatment for cancer and he was on fine form as he enjoyed time with his family.

His sister-in-law, the Duchess of Edinburgh, also joined in the fun during the five-day event.

Galloping ahead in the style stakes, Sophie, 59, embraced country casual chic in a khaki Me+Em blazer, a white blouse and a Vince maxi leather black skirt and boots.

Her hair was held up by a colourful Hermès printed scarf – a nod, perhaps, to her much-loved mother-in-law Elizabeth II, who often wore headscarves to visit the horse show.
