A GLIMPSE BEHIND THE SCENES BUCKINGHAM PALACE NEW GUIDED TOUR SHOWS VISITORS THE VIEW FROM THE MOST FAMOUS BALCONY IN THE WORLD

They are arguably the most famous net curtains in the world and, now, visitors to Buckingham Palace will be able to stand behind them – inside the room that opens onto its famous balcony – for the first time in history.

The newly restored and lavishly decorated Centre Room, where the King recorded his Christmas Day message last year, is open to the public for the first time as of 15 July, letting guests see where the royal family have celebrated coronations, jubilees and weddings over the years.

Visitors can enjoy the same sights that royalty see – minus the TV normally placed in a corner that lets the family watch the crowds down The Mall before stepping out.

The Centre Room is on the route of a new guided tour of the East Wing, which was added to the palace by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert between 1847 and 1849 to house their growing family.
