OpenAI to set up India office in New Delhi, eyes deeper local engagement

OpenAI is set to open its first India office in New Delhi in the coming months, marking a significant step in its expansion into one of the world's fastest-growing technology markets, according to a Bloomberg report.

Globally known for its AI chatbot ChatGPT, the company has also begun hiring to build out its local team.
Currently, OpenAI has just one employee in the country-Pragya Misra, who leads public policy and partnerships after joining last year. With a stronger on-ground presence, the company aims to deepen engagement with India's government, businesses, and the developer community.
