ON DAY ONE of my wildlife-watching trip in Brazil's tropical savanna, I barely left the safari vehicle. It felt splendid, then, to counter a day of sitting with nonstop action: fat-biking while birding, wild swimming mixed with kayaking to cool off, and a walking tour to better appreciate the region's rich biodiversity. While I didn't conclude my stay at the boutique Pousada Trijunção safari lodge with a sighting of the area's famed maned wolf, I did depart with something else—my fitness.
