The GT XX is Mercedes-AMG's first-ever standalone EV

The Mercedes-AMG GT XX is the 'first' electric performance machine from Affalterbach, but we need to get a small caveat out of the way: the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive, of which only 9 were built, was an electric conversion of the SLS AMG but not built from the ground up to be an EV like the GT XX here.

Now that's dealt with, let's talk about the colour: the sunset beam orange is a glorious callback to the C-111 experimental sports prototype powered by a Wankel rotary engine (yes, Mercedes-Benz once dabbled in the dark arts of the spinning Doritos). Unlike the C-111, though, the GT XX is a four-door, and it is quite easy to guess which other German it has in its crosshairs (cough! Taycan! cough!).
