The recent introduction of E20 fuel—petrol blended with 20 percent ethanol—may be touted as a step forward in reducing fossil fuel dependence and carbon emissions, but it adds another hurdle for the classic motorist. Vehicles built before the mid-2000s were never engineered for ethanol-rich fuels, and the effects on their engines, fuel systems, and long-term usability are significant.
