Of Eleanor and Morgan...

- SIDDHRAJ SINGH

On several occasions in the past, I’ve written about classic cars and their modernisation—commonly referred to as restomods.

This month, Morgan Motor Company unveiled the newest iteration of the Plus Four, arguably the ultimate expression of that term.

For the uninitiated, Morgan is a boutique British carmaker with roots going back to 1910. They first gained fame for a quirky three-wheeler, with two wheels up front and a single driven rear wheel—a configuration they revived to much acclaim about 15 years ago. In more recent years, Morgan has been producing the retro-styled Plus Six and Plus Four models. These cars are built on a bonded aluminium chassis but continue to use an ash wood frame for the body—a technique that most manufacturers abandoned before World War II.
