A hack wows to win the prestigious Queen’s Cup award, a part-bred Arab is off to HOYS in-hand and a working hunter will make his NEC debut in October
A “SPOTLESS” performance from Trevor and Marlene Burley’s Imagine FW and Hannah Horton secured them the Queen’s Cup for best light horse in the show.
The striking hack champion pulled off an immaculate display, which included a reinback and walk to canter, to impress judge Paul Brightwell.
The nine-year-old finished second at Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) last year, and he stood champion at Devon County show earlier this term.
“Trevor and Marlene are chief stewards here, so to win the prestigious supreme meant so much to everyone,” said Hannah. “Today, he felt like he was on air.”
Supreme judge Paul said: “The hack and his rider were the perfect partnership; they gave a spotless show. It was beautifully ridden and went like a true hack should. It was sheer elegance.”
Paul chose the Royal International (RIHS) hunter champions, Master Jack Brown and Lucy Jeffries (née Lockwood), for his reserve supreme.
“He’s a beautiful hunter – I loved his free-moving way of going and his limbs,” said Paul. “I had some nice animals forward, many with promising futures ahead of them.”
Master Jack Brown, a seven-year-old by Kings Master, is owned by Lucy’s parents Tony and Julie Lockwood and is kept at their home in Worcestershire.
