Introduction Today moringa market is estimated at more than US$ 4 billion, which expected to cross US$ 7 billion by 2021 at 9 percent per annum. Among the export of moringa products, moringa leaf /powder stands second with the export value of 1.1 billion US$ next to moringa seeds (US$ 1.6 billion). India is the largest exporter of moringa leaf powder. European countries stand first in importing moringa leaf powder (Global Moringa meet, 2019).

India is the prime producer of Moringa (Drumstick) with an annual production of 2.2 million tonnes of tender fruits leading to the productivity of 51 tonnes per ha. Tamil Nadu is the largest producer of Moringa with an annual production of 6.71 lakh tonnes of tender fruits from an area of 13042 ha.
Miracle of Moringa
“The Ayurvedic Scripts reveals that the Moringa leaves are capable of preventing more than 300 diseases that the human normally faces in his routine”. Once Moringa was eaten by ancient Indians, Greeks, and Egyptians. Moringaoleiferaleaves have been used in traditional medicine passed down for centuries in many cultures. More recently, the modern scientific community has begun to validate many of these claims with over 1300 studies and research publications on Moringa. While discussing the health benefits of Moringa, the list is exhaustive and unending. It contains around 20 types of amino acids, 46 antioxidants, 36 anti-inflammatory compounds, and more than 90 bioactive compounds which make it one of the best nutritional supplements. It is an excellent source of minerals like iron, calcium, and vitamins A, B, B1, B2, B3, B6, C, E as well as macronutrients, trace minerals, and phytonutrients. Besides these, it is a good source of quality protein and dietary fiber. These vivid green leaves of moringa are nature’s superpower food which has the power to prevent global malnutrition. We can use Moringa as part of our daily diet and aid in our healthy living.
