10 Bad Driving Habits

When you have to spend so much of the day in your car, you’re bound to develop a few less-than-perfect driving habits.

10 Bad Driving Habits

Whether you rev your car engine to reach a light in time, brake sharply and repeatedly in a traffic jam or change lanes without any indication, it may be time to review the driving behaviour that may be costing you a fortune on insurance and repairs.

1. YOU IGNORE WARNING SIGNS

You may be so used to your car’s quirks that you ignore the little squeaks and rattles. But these are signs that something is wearing out or about to cease soon. An ‘I’ll fix it when I have time’ mentality can mean your vehicle breaks down at the most inopportune time, so rather have any sounds or quirks checked out as soon as you notice them.

2. YOU REST YOUR HAND ON THE GEAR STICK

Resting your hand on the gear stick places weight on the transmission’s bushings and synchronisers, causing internal wear. Keep both hands on the steering wheel until you need to switch gears.

3. YOU HAVE A LOT OF JUNK IN YOUR TRUNK
