HOW TO MAKE A STAR CUSHION

MATERIALS

50cm x 140cm (19¾ x 45 1 /8) velvet fabric

Gold tassel

Two 29mm (1¼) metal cover buttons

Toy stuffing

Thread

Tailor’s chalk

Needle

The festive shape of this project is a fun level-up for beginner sewists. It’s stuffed so doesn’t require a fiddly fastening and the button detail in the centre gives it a lovely squishy texture.

We’ve gone for velvet to add a luxe feel that‘s especially suited to this time of year. If you‘re confident, you can play around with different fabrics to match your décor.

01 Using the template provided on page 81, draw around two star shapes on the back of the velvet and cut them both out as neatly as possible.
