“Check” Out the Pockets! Hooded Scarf

Bundle up in this modern twist on traditional buffalo checks. With a roomy, checked hood and pockets, this scarf will keep you warm all winter long.

MATERIALS

• Red Heart Soft medium (worsted) weight acrylic yarn (5 oz/256 yds/ 141g per ball): 2 balls each #9925 really red, #4614 black and #4608 wine

• Size I/9/5.5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

• Tapestry needle

• Locking stitch marker

13 dc = 4 inches; 8 rows = 4 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Each 4-row, buffalo check section is worked in 2 colors. Carry and work over color not in use.

When working all 3 colors, at end of 4th row of each buffalo check section, carry unused color up along side edge of work until it is needed again. Do not cut or fasten off any color unless otherwise stated.

Chain-3 at beginning of row counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.

Chain-2 at beginning of row does not count as a stitch.

When Pockets are folded over, right and wrong sides switch between rows 16 and 17 and between rows 156 and 157.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.
