Simran Kaur and Sonya Gupthan are the women behind a chart-topping podcast that endeavours to spread financial literacy among women and make investing more approachable for its young, largely female audience.
SIMRAN KAUR AND SONYA GUPTHAN were only novice investors when they decided to start a podcast encouraging women to take charge of their finances. What began with a modest audience of about a thousand listeners quickly swelled to become the number-one financial podcast on Apple charts globally. “You don’t really get notifications for something like that, so I was doing my weekly check when I saw that we were the number-one podcast,” says Kaur when we speak over Zoom, “I had to lie down. We’re from New Zealand. It’s a small island. Things like that don’t really happen around here.”
Kaur and Gupthan attended the same primary school and bonded over an incident involving stolen stickers, as five-year-olds are wont to do. Tracing the genesis of the idea behind ‘Girls That Invest’
