Going #PLUS

DISMISSING TABOOS

The term #inclusivity took the international ramp by storm. The fashion industry is riddled with discrepancies that hurt sentiments and impinged its outreach to a market that could cater to limitless possibilities. Breaking the glass ceiling on manufacturing of plus size apparel has been one of the underlining factors of #inclusivity.

INDIAN FASHION (AN OVERVIEW)

If we look at the history of Indian fashion, we learn that the vivacity of its cultural dynamic diluted these rude ongoings. The only thing that changed about the saree was the draping style. The incorporated colours had a mythological inkling to them. The designs and the warp and weft are insignia of the cultural elements of that commune or tribe.

The unwarranted construct of the ‘perfect body type’ only began to surface as international brands proliferated the Indian market. They manufactured clothing in limited sizes and were purchased only by those possessing the ideal body type, rudely casting the plus size variation aside.
