Can Rob and Sharon Stay Together as Their Brilliant Relationship Sitcom Returns?

It started out as a quietly brilliant sitcom secret, but after just two series, Catastrophe – Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney’s brutally honest and hilarious take on relationships – has become a Bafta-winning jewel in Channel 4’s crown.
When we last interviewed them in 2015, Horgan and Delaney were polite but frazzled. Critics were clambering over themselves to praise the pair – who write the show and play married couple Sharon and Rob – and the success of series one had pushed them to pen a second season in record time.
Two years later, as we meet again at TV&Satellite Week’s exclusive photoshoot, they seem more self-assured, with the show already commissioned for a fourth run before series three has even aired.
KEEPING IT FUNNY
But they haven’t lost their edge: the next batch of six perfectly crafted episodes will deal with Sharon’s alleged infidelity, Rob’s wavering sobriety and the couple’s financial woes – all with their unflinching humour.
‘It’s harder to write our show when the characters aren’t getting on,’ reveals Horgan. ‘We’ve had to find ways to make it funny and warm without them being 100 per cent happy.’
