Former Bake Off presenters Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc play gun-toting hired assassins in Sky One’s new comedy

Comedians and presenters
Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins add a new string to their bow this week when they flex their acting muscles in Sky One’s new comedy series Hitmen.
The former hosts of The Great British Bake Off star in the six-parter as best friends Jamie (Giedroyc) and Fran (Perkins), who work for a mysterious big shot, known only as Mr K, and drive around in a beaten-up yellow van dispatching people on his orders.
But killing people proves to be a challenge for the hapless, bickering pair, whose inane antics often get in the way of their work. They must also contend with far-superior rival hitmen and a string of oddball characters, including, in the first episode, one of their intended targets – a corrupt lawyer played by Jason Watkins.
It’s a world away from the world of the Bake Off tent, as Giedroyc, 51, and Perkins, 50, reveal…
This sounds like a real departure for you…
Giedroyc Totally. That’s why we said yes. But I’m not going to lie, on the first day we were nervous – we were with proper actors!
