The Whisperers have been vanquished, but there’s still no peace for the survivors in The Walking Dead…

LIVING IN DANGER

NEW HORROR

The Walking Dead

Monday, FOX HD, 9pm

In the last episode of The Walking Dead, the resilient band of apocalypse survivors had something to celebrate – they finally won their epic and bloody war against terrifying enemies The Whisperers.

After Negan and Carol conspired to kill the group’s psychotic leader, Alpha, earlier in the series, Negan then joined forces with Daryl to slay her former right-hand man, the equally menacing Beta.

But, as fans of the zombie drama know only too well, the next threat is always around the corner – and the survivors don’t have much time to savour their victory.

The series returns this week with six new episodes that will conclude season 10, after filming was forced to shut down for several weeks as a result of the pandemic.

MYSTERIOUS RETURN

The opening episode focuses on the unexpected return of Maggie, played by Lauren Cohan, who turned up in the last episode to save Father Gabriel from certain death after he was attacked by The Whisperers.

Maggie’s return raises plenty of questions. Where has she been all this time? And will she take revenge on Negan after he brutally clubbed her husband Glenn to death with his baseball bat in season seven?

‘Maggie left the group because she had difficulty carrying on her life with Negan alive, even if he was imprisoned at the time. It was too much to contend with,’ says Cohan.
