Business pressures faced by telcos are impacting the IT outsourcing deals as well, which are getting smaller and shared by multiple vendors
-

Over the last decade or so, the Indian telecom in-dustry has witnessed a massive demand shift. Plain voice and messaging services now no longer entice subscribers, with a rapid and ongoing adoption of mobile internet having changed everything. Today’s consumers are smarter than ever before and have greater access to information. They are constantly exploring and experimenting with new applications and technologies to meet their growing appetites for entertainment, knowledge, and networking. Those companies that are unable to transform and reinvent themselves in time and cater to the changing consumer needs are seen packing their bags.
Telcos are facing an intense pressure to consistently come up with new and exciting offerings while leveraging the latest enabling technologies to stay relevant to the market needs and improve their ARPUs. In view of this, they are increasingly focusing on the core services that they offer while outsourcing the network management tasks to the specialists who can help them deliver better services.
The Year in Review
The ever-growing popularity of over-the-top (OTT) apps and rising adoption of smartphones, multimedia access devices, and streaming gadgets have all compelled telcos to provide high-quality data services at compelling price points.
These new market dynamics and the associated changes in end-user expectations are also impacting the nature of IT and system integration deals in the sector.
Telcos are looking at more cost-efficient outsourcing solutions that can help them adapt quickly and seamlessly to the rapid technological changes.
