Adding weightage to an employee-centric metric amid digital disruption
SaaS Industry
|March 2022
The digital disruption caused by digitization must also be perceived from employees' prism for its success. It is imperative that employees fully grasp the benefits of improved technologies and disruptive trends for better productivity.
The digital age has greatly changed the existing state of affairs in organizational workflows. As modes of operations shift in today's workplaces, employees are expected to adapt and continue delivering the same or better output. The benefits are many as employees today are less subjected to manual and repetitive tasks, thanks to automation. They can communicate better due to smartphones and Internal Messaging (M). More recently, they land the same or better efficiency by working remotely.
Employees play a critical part in the digital transformation of businesses. A report by Mckinsey on the key to successful digital transformation states that organizations having fewer than 100 employees are almost three times more likely to undergo a successful and efficient digital transformation than those having over 50,000 employees. The importance is further stressed by throwing light on the criticality of employees' decisions. It states that when employees decide where digitization might support the business and their day-to-day activities, respondents are 1.4 times more likely to report success. A report from Workflow says that companies must prepare employees for disruptive trends.
Hence, it is necessary to improve the digital experience offered to employees as it forms a major determinant of various employee-centric factors in an organization, which are vital.
