Is Scorpio-N The Big Daddy Of SUVs?
Businessworld India
|August 13, 2022
20 years ago, automaker, Mahindra had launched an SUV in the Indian market that instantly became a mass product and a choice of most seven- seater car buyers. The Mahindra Scorpio sold over eight lakh units. Now, 20 years down the line, Mahindra has again launched the SUV in an all-new avatar, with a new design and new badging as the Scorpio-N, but most things remain the same
THE LAUNCH OF SCORPIO – N does not mean that the older generation of Scorpio will be discontinued. Mahindra will continue to sell the old Scorpio, since the new Mahindra Scorpio-N doesn’t carryover any components of the existing Scorpio.
So, what has changed in the new Mahindra Scorpio? How is the design? How does it perform? How is the engine and suspension? I hope to answer these questions here, based on the test drive of both the diesel and the 4WD automatic transmission variants of the Mahindra Scorpio-N at the Aamby Valley City in Maharashtra.
Mahindra is hawking its third generation Scorpio as the Big Daddy of SUVs that takes on the likes of some of its competitors like Tata Harrier, Toyota Innova, Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, and even the Toyota Fortuner. In truth, however, there is no direct competitor to this SUV in the segment.
Looks & Design: In terms of design, the Scorpio-N is definitely a head turner
