It’s now customary for the latest generation of VW Transporter to receive a revamp a few years after its introduction – welcome to the T6.1 and also new versions of the California Ocean and Beach range.
The first obvious thing to denote the T6.1 is the subtly new front end; embellished chrome strips, the top part of the radiator grille forms an entity with the new LED daytime running lights under which is a broad chrome bar and a further large air intake for the more efficient engines and a new bumper design embellished on the California Ocean 6.1 by a chrome strip. There’s also a new dash and a new touchscreen control unit in the roof console and something called Cross Wind Assist to stabilise the van, and the Ocean gets more blackout from the new darker roof canvas as well an intriguing Sunrise feature program for the interior lighting. Oh, and the Ocean also has a new cabinet colour option of Bright Oak as well as Graphite Grey. And there’s lots of connectivity stuff going on now…
