But that's just what we were doing at the ABR Festival last month when we clapped eyes on this piece of work. It's the Royal Enfield Flying Goat – a prototype EV bike, hand-built by the firm's R&D engineers at Bruntingthorpe, and is festooned with sweet chassis kit, wrapped around a powertrain borrowed from the Stark Varg MX racer.

It's issued an update from boss Luca Martin, detailing how it's setting up new logistics, parts supply, and a new dealer network, with the UK an important part of that. The firm also said it's working on new bikes and new engines, which it certainly needs to do.

ROUNDING off
So, three bikes, three opinions, one winner? Nah, that would have been way too easy. In reality, each of us concluded that our bike was the best, and only begrudgingly gave praise to the rival machines out of sight and under our breaths. After 1000 miles in the saddle, on such a diverse route, we'd probably just come to accept that our bikes were great in some areas and less good in others. But the worst thing of all would have been rendering a rival's pick better than our own... so we didn’t.
