How I Survive My Annual 24-Hour Flight to Australia

IF YOU'VE EVER WONDERED which city is located the farthest distance from New York, it's Perth, Western Australia-my hometown. Perth sits on the coast of the Indian Ocean, on the opposite side of the country from Sydney and Melbourne, around 11,600 miles away. To get there, I usually take a 16-hour flight to Hong Kong, followed by an eight-hour leg to my final destination. That's 24 hours in total, not including layover time.
