<p>There have been questions around her eldest child Jackson’s gender for years, but Charlize Theron has now revealed that her seven-year-old is transgender.</p>

“Yes, I thought she was a boy, too,” Charlize says. “Until she looked at me when she was three years old and said, ‘I am not a boy!’”
Jackson has worn skirts and dresses and had her hair done in long braids ever since, with the actress, 43, determined to embrace her child’s choice – and do “everything in my power” for her to have the right to choose her identity. “My job as a parent is to celebrate them and to love them and to make sure they have everything they need in order to be what they want to be,” Charlize insists.
The Long Shot star adopted Jackson from her native South Africa as a single mother in 2012, and three years later she adopted daughter August.
These days, still single Charlize’s first priority is raising her young children to respect others and always be true to themselves.
“I have two beautiful daughters who, just like any parent, I want to protect and I want to see thrive,” Charlize says. “They were born who they are and exactly where in the world both of them find themselves as they grow up, and who they want to be is not for me to decide.”
