Life has a complete circle and so is the business…..
When life begins, it goes through a series of events ranging from happiness, incidents, memorable events, challenges and opportunities. The business is also quite similar as it goes through all the above mentioned phases. At the same moment of time some exporters face good times, some face challenges and many others are stable. The apparel industry is also on a similar junction , however it is quite interesting that while big scale exporters are not looking at expansions and are facing shortage of orders, the mid- size exporters are on an expansion spree. While many of the exporters are looking at adding scales in production, many reported exploring new market segments, product categories and even technology to bring a change in the business. It was in fact, a hot topic of discussion among buyers few months back who discussed that in times to come the medium sized players will flourish as compared to the big players as they are aggressive, willing to work with some new buyers and take risks as well. On the contrary the giant players will continue to leverage upon the customers with whom they have been working for years’ as for them the right way is to be loyal and sustainable.
At a recently concluded exhibition we noticed that more than 60% of exporters who had participated are willing to increase the scale of production and enhance infrastructure for the same. Also, they are focusing on emerging markets rather than the traditional markets like the US and EU. A recent survey by a top research and consulting firm shows that some of the top emerging retail destinations which have a good potential are CHILE, URUGUAY, BRAZIL, PERU, MIDDLE EAST, CHINA and even India itself was list as a potential country in terms of retail and investment.
