This issue talks about how water resources are managed in India. It describes how our policy on water resources could be better. We do not think about water in a way that we might take water as a resource seriously enough to establish controls over how to best utilize it. There are many problems in how we manage water, and a few of them include how the poorest and most distant villagers and forest communities are completely separate from all the political fights over water. We assess our water resources, but this is not as complete as we would like it to. We see disputes in India over basic issues like dams and the sharing of water between states. The worst of all, there is a terrible shortage of safe drinking water in India. The issue talks in detail about these problems, and how India needs a far reaching policy for its water resources both in theory and practice.
