After a challenging few months, especially during Eid al-Fitr, our region braces itself for the long hot days of our second summer living with COVID-19.
This issue looks at resilience. As the pandemic continues, many sectors are thinking ahead and making sure they are prepared for the next mega shock. From logistics and shipping to healthcare to business services, resilience is key to business continuation across sectors. DHL’s latest whitepaper makes for interesting reading.
If you were reading our magazine in December 2018, you may have enjoyed our article, “Flu and you – are you protected?” which covered the chances of a global flu pandemic and the issues we might face. It’s such a shame that we don’t have any world leaders as readers back then – rereading it now feels quite scary in that the World Health Organization were warning about being prepared for a pandemic almost exactly a year before COVID-19 stated to take hold in China.
Cryptocurrencies have been in and out of the world’s news lately. Extremely popular with billionaire tech investors, and those in their 20s and 30s than any other age group, they may be one to watch. The jury is still out on them it seems, and we take a look at what people have been advising.
We also take a look at how the shipping industry is at the most important phase in their move towards decarbonising the industry – very much like the time when sails were being replaced by engines. Finding the right solution about propulsion, then making it a law for all global shipping, will ensure that large ships using older technologies will no longer take to the water.
