Many across our region grieve for family and friends lost during this horrific pandemic and our thoughts are with them.
This summer we also felt the loss and pain of those caught up in the tragedy at Beirut Port. I have friends living in the area and it was a truly traumatic time, not knowing how they would survive in the aftermath. For this to happen at any time was beyond terrible. The fact that so many hospitals were destroyed during a global pandemic was horrendous. Whether or not the changes will make the difference the citizens have been calling for, we will have to wait and see. Beirut will one day return stronger and more beautiful than before.
Lockdown has been a scary time for most, but for those with dementia any change to routine can be confusing and detrimental to their health. Our colleague, Annemarie, lost her father to dementia in late August. An entrepreneur since the age of 12, Tom was nursed at home by his family and died peacefully aged 87 after living a full life.
With this in mind our over-riding message remains the same as Issue 27.
Wherever you are, stay safe. Take time to tell those in your life that you love them.
Do what you need to do to get through this challenge.
We are stronger together.
