Selective laser melting and laser metal deposition are the two laser-based additive manufacturing methods. Here you can read about the current status of both methods. Additive manufacture of metal parts in industry always involves building an object layer by layer, usually from powder and most frequently using a laser. The method that has become synonymous with additive manufacturing is called selective laser melting (SLM) or powder bed fusion. The process creates highly complex components with internal structures or components that are the image of their internal strains. The impact of technology has expanded continuously and well beyond what we may have imagined just a few years ago. When we think of car design, we visualise the body of an automobile, that external layer of metal that gives a car its form. Welcome to the year 2013. There are alot of new developments and upgrades happening t h i s year. One i s the conventional way of setting up multitools in a machine system data file. A new concept in sheet metal CAD/CAM software promises significant support for multi-tools. This laser scanner is a viable alternative to a tactile probe for an increasing number of high-precision CMM applications in the Middle East and Africa.
Since the dawn of machining, the manufacturing industry has looked for ways to squeeze greater efficiencies out of existing equipment, materials and labour. A breakthrough in technology improves the way tools cut their way through material, using high-speed continuous tangent motion rather than sharp, interrupted movements.
