But with flourishing new styles of modernist architecture, these traditional building techniques were lost in time, to fancy forms, experimental deconstructivism structures and urban populace. The sense and meaning of building were somewhere lost in the making of shelters and art.

Today most people spend more than 90% of their lives inside buildings. During this time the nature of the enclosed environment directly affects the health, quality of life, and productivity of the occupants. Modern buildings, however, clearly have a problem providing a healthy or even appropriate indoor environment.

In our daily lives, we are constantly exposed to stress from external forces and energies, which put considerable strain on our bodies and minds. In order to remain balanced, we need healthy places and spaces to work, create, rest and recover.

This issue of Vastu Times features Ar. Raman Vig's article on Building Biology where he talks about the importance to strike a balance between the biology of the structure and the human. This issue also features details of Vastuworld's upcoming Master Workshops.

Everyone requires some help at some stage of life either to understand themselves or to excel in their life hence this issue is dedicated to self-help. Just the other day I walked into a bookstore and I was surprised to see a whole shelf dedicated to books on self-help which I've realized is the need of the hour as most of us are not interacting with people apart from work and are busy on social media where they spend hours hence human interaction is lesser by the time so I thought I should dedicate this issue on self-help.

Independence Issue:
On 15th August India celebrates Freedom from the British Rule and this is our 72nd year of independence which makes one feel that we have come a long long way where our thinking aspiration and imagination and intelligence and education and technology are concerned. The concept of independence to each individual is different however to the society what matters is a good governance transparency, opportunities, and scope to fulfill his /her dreams that empowerment is only possible with the education system.
We at Prithwe have come up with an independent curriculum under the Naduhl banner which will definitely give freedom, independence to various architects to think, add value to their existing knowledge with our independent, indigenous thinking, where the education system is a concern. Hence we have decided to dedicate this issue to the independence freedom.

After a long summer, we are looking forward for a good monsoon this year as it was unbearably hot and humid in Pune. This summer we hope the rain gods are kind and they shower and cool down and turn the terrain green. Usually last week of May there are pre monsoon showers in Pune. However this year, owing to the global warming the pre monsoon showers were delayed.
On a hot summer afternoon, Mayank forwarded me an article written by Hemang Desai on the “Lost Art of Water Architecture” who is a good friend of mine from Ahemdabad since  80’s. I have fond memories of spending and chatting with him till wee hours. 
Later on he dropped in at Pune and it seems he was Christian by my wife’s mathematics professor, such a small world but somehow we lost touch with each other and suddenly this article brought back such fond memories of Hemang.
This article that I am carrying in Vastutimes June issue took me on a nostalgia and I dedicate this issue to the Lost Art Of Water Architecture.
We are also carrying an article by Mayank Joshi called “Droplets from the Nectar of Vastu”. 
Plus a article on Sir Patrick Geddes in India which makes amazing reading an interesting information.
